Flood Lines, SWMPs and Erosion Protection
Flood lines
We carry out specialist flood line studies for EIA’s and WULA’s, for the mining industry, property developments, and municipal planning. We assess the watershed and catchment area, and conduct a hydrological analysis using various methods ranging from the Rational Method through to simulation and Unit Hydrographs to assess the 50- or 100-year runoffs. The hydraulic analysis for mapping the flood lines is carried out using the HEC-RAS software. Our comprehensive flood line reports are compiled to suit the needs of our clients.
Storm water management plans
Where a Storm Water Management Plan is required for new residential, commercial and industrial property developments, we assess the pre- and post- development runoffs and the attenuation requirements. We also consider the storm water and erosion controls that are needed during the construction of the development. The SWMP is one of the submission documents required by the local authorities or the Department of Water and Sanitation.
Erosion protection
We provide erosion protection solutions for a variety of applications including:
